I am considering having a rifle built in .284 caliber for F-class. I know this is a sniper sight, but there is a lot of shooting knowledge here, so I thought I would throw this out here. I am interested in knowing if there is alot of difference between these two bullets. I shoot the 140g JLK in 6.5 caliber and really like it, but it seems more people shoot the Berger in 7mm.

Which do you shoot and if you were building a rifle, which bullet would you use for your dummy and why?

I have just started a testing deal with the 180 JLK's, 180 Bergers, 168 Bergers & 175 Sierra's. I started the test yesterday with factory bullets & "pointed" bullets using John Whidden's Pointing Die. The results were the "pointed" bullets were 3" higher impact @ 400 yards. The 7 WSM load is 62.9 grs. H4831SC, Rem 9 1/2M primer, naked 180 Berger's were 2939 fps out of a GAP Rem. action in an AICS stock. Over the next days/weeks I'll continue on this project. I included th e168's because a very good shooter in the club had some awesome 1000 yard groups using the 168's.

A lot of us shoot Bergers because they are readily available... or use to be at least. I heard Berger just got done making a run on the 180s.

Since I was getting low on bullets, and couldn't find any Bergers in stock, I ordered up some JLKs. Hopefully they should be here in a week or so. Going to test those out against the Bergers and 175gr SMKs.

Hopefully, the SMKs comes in. The freakin post office lost my damn bullets. They told me they didn't lose them, "it's in process". But yet, they don't know where they are at. Sounds like they lost them to me. God I hate the post office.

I shoot almost the same load in my 7wsm. 63g H4831sc, BR2's and 180 Berger hunting vld's. I'm anxious to see your results. I've been interested in the 180 swampworks (jlk's) myself for a while to see if the bc is that much better than the Berger like advertised. I would like to shoot my existing load @ 1000 then immediately shoot the same exact load only with the 180 swampworks to see the difference. Maybe you could do this? My 7wsm is also a GAP (GAP 7000 action, Lawton 25" in a McMillian A5).
