I have an opportunity to buy a bunch of 190 SMK's for not a lot of money - I know they work in 300 win, but how about 308? I would be using LC brass and varget powder. I'm getting them for 20 cents apiece.

Some use them. As long as your twist will work then go for it. Here are pages with lots of .308 loads and 190s are in there too.

How much more to get what shoots best in your rifle?
I would hate to have a bunch of bullets (no waait, I do) that don't work. Even if they were only .20 each.

18" 1:10. I'm just wondering what the velocity difference will be between them and say a 175 (175's shoot best out of my rifle at around 2500fps). Looking at other people's loads and velocities I'm thinking ~2400fps should be reasonable, which I could live with if it's accurate.
edit: hm after looking at the reloading depot I think I'm going to go with 41, 41.5, and 42 and work from there. 43 will probably be max-max for my rifle.

I used the 190 over Varget when I shot F-class.They were a little more accurate in my 1-11.25 twist barrel than the 175's were at 600yd.For 20cents,I would jump on it. Pete
