Very early Browning A-5. As best as I can tell it's a 1904 year gun. They started in 1903. I spent a lot of time researching these early guns and I am very sure it's made before 1905 but has late 1903 patent applied date so I don't think it's a 1903. But feel free to ask me anything and research it for yourself. I asked the Browning historian but they do not have records that old. I stripped it down completely and it's in very good condition except the butt stock has been cut down at some point and also broken at the wrist and repaired other than that it's very nice! It seems to be all original except it has a model 11 plug in it as opposed to a Browning plug. Again reach out with any questions! I am not sure how to price this gun as there just not many out there. I am open to reasonable offers. Sold Pending Funds $550 shipped.

    Trades:
    -Zermatt action wrench
-good quality binos or LRF binos in the 8-10X magnification range
    hunting style pump 12ga like:
-older 870 matte finished 12ga screw in choke
-1st generation model 12 in 12ga (unmodified gun)
    -Mossberg 590
-bolt action rimfire hunting style rifles (CZ 452 American, old Kimbers, etc)
-WWI or WWII bolt action rifles, prefer a 1903 but will consider others except an Arisaka
**happy to add cash when necessary**

if I do need to ship them I'll have to buy / order an inexpensive hard case to ship it in as I don't have any extra. So it may take a few days to get it shipped. I'll communicate that with the buyer. If you want both I have a nice SKB double case that I can use for a little extra money but we can work out a package deal for both.

Soooo I’m a little autistic about auto 5s, looked through one of the reference books I have and I think your spot on! GLWS I’d snatch it, but I have a similar example.

Very cool, thank you! I have never seen the serial number vs delivery dates of the early guns.

It’s a fantastic book, copies are still pretty easy to find. At one point I had 20 some odd A5s and the only info I couldn’t decode with the book was some of the country specific proof marks. It makes a good read, but you can still use the index to get way down in the grass.

It is not threaded for replaceable chokes but rather it is factory choked at improved and modified. Let me know if you want to check it out.

    great price on a5!
Thank you, I was really struggling with how to price this shotgun. I have owned it a very long time and got into it via family. I really haven't seen any similar that are either for sale or have recently sold to help determine a fair price.

Up, will consider trades for a more modern 12ga shotgun that I will not mind dragging through the woods (pump, or semi)
