I have a colt commander lightweight model. I would like to get a different top end built for it. I was looking at a sig 1911 slide. Are sig slides interchangeable with colt reciever? I know about fitting the frame/slide combo. I was just wondering if they are milspec.

Be careful what Sig 1911 slide you choose. Some of the earlier and current ones are more squared on top. That slide shape is notorious for not fitting into conventional 1911 holsters.

In short, Sig 1911 slide is NOT milspec. Also, Sig has Firing pin safety. If you have a Ser 70 Colt, that won't work.

An option for you would be to send it to Colt, get a Colt slide for it. OR, get an aftermarket slide such as Caspian, STI, and have a quality 'smith fit it to your frame.

Best of luck!
