So now that I finally got my G30 and feel comfortable with it I'm looking to send my old trusty 1911 in for a make over. You know things like new sights, finish, and a trigger job. But I'd prefer to keep things local if possible (I live about a hour north of Houston). Thus I am looking for some recommendations? Anybody know any good 1911 smiths in the Houston area?

You can try Briley...I know there are several others, they just escape me at this time.
I recommend Ed Vandenberg in Webster Tx
