I have no experience with night vision whatsoever. I'm just looking for something to do night shooting, occasionally some hunting. I have a pretty decent day optic and would like a clip on so I can still use it. Any suggestions or things to avoid would be much appreciated.

you really need to decide what your primary use will be. That will be a deciding factor in the range of magnification you will be using it with. I have a CNVD and use it primarily in the range between 1 and four power. I had a CNVD=LR and it would range at higher magnifications. Longer shots. Neither of those units are cheap. They will likely cost more than your weapon and scope combined.

There are a lot of guys on here that can give you good advise. Listen and do your research and then buy

Honestly if your going with a NV clip on the refurbished pvs-30 is your best option. It'll be the most "bang for your buck" you might say. You can save some money and get a CO-X from armasight but In my opinion that's a lot less performance for a little less money. Message me if you'd like and I can help you decide what route is best for you and get you something for a great price.
