So I cruise to a local range with my new Vortex Crossfire on my Savage 10fcp .308. There are 4 people shooting from 20 lanes on the rifle course. 3 on 25-50 and 1 shooting at 200 on my far right.
After asking permission, I post targets in lane 10, 11 and 12. 11 and 12 are at 100 yards and 10 is at 50. I needed to sight in my rifle first before heading out to 100.
After somehow turning my elevation turret 12 clicks after my second group (don't ask me how...probably when I was cleaning my barrel), I finished off my third group while breaking in my barrel. Some guy walked over and asked which targets I was hittin at 50. Then after asking what kind of rifle I was shooting, he said, "I like Remingtons better. They're way more accurate, but yours is really nice."
Well after the next cease fire, I was just about out of time for the day. I take my first shot at my target in lane 11. When I zoom in to see where I hit and I noticed another bullet hole on my target. One cut off the left corner of the bullseye diamond and the other took out the 6 under it. Who's shooting my target?
Yeah...that same guy...from 6 lanes over he decides to hit my target because it was empty and the guy at the far end didn't claim it. So he's getting all fussy and walks over and tells me I can have the target if I want it, but he gave me a good start and almost put one through the bullseye. I told him about the other target on 12 and to just shoot that one. He makes some wise guy comment to the range officer and walks back.
I now have about a minute before I have to leave. So I fire one more...exactly where I aimed before and now have two holes at the corner of the bullseye. I look at the range officer and he just smiles.
I pack up and the guy walks back over to talk more crap and gives me a hard time about leaving after taking his target that he "started" for me.
He walks back to his lane, and I couldn't help myself but to stay and watch him shoot. It was worse than his first shot. 7 down and 7 to the left.
I know why he wanted that target to badly now.
