Photos 2 3/4" 5 shot @ 580 yards!

Just took my new 6.5x47L out for its first trial run, and this is the FIRST GROUP I SHOT at my 580 yard range!! 2 3/4" Center to center, 5 shots, the top center is 2 hits. Top left is from getting on target. Talk about AMAZED! that is the best group i have ever shot! (not a pro here, just hobby shooter) Immediately after shooting that group, i shot the empty spray paint cans orange top off on the first shot!


Rilfe Specs:
6.5x47 Lapua
Stiller Tac 30 action with 20 moa base.
27" 8 twist Kreiger tube Carbon wrapped by ABS w/RWS muzzle brake Remington trigger tuned to 2.5 lbs.
AICS 1.5
S&B PMII 3-12x50/P1 Reticle with Badeger M40A3 rings

Very nice, how much does that rig weigh with the carbon barrel?

i have not weighed my Carbon barreled rifles... while i like the concept of the decreased weight, i feel the benefits of the heat dissapation (especially here in Central Cali, 115+ in the summer) is what i am REALLY looking for. I also like to put my long range rifles in lightweight stocks and taking them hunting (my #1 hobby)

lol. that was 2 3/4 CENTER TO CENTER!! OD on the SPLATS is larger obviously! if these were on paper (like they should have been) it would be much more "to scale" of a 2 3/4" group. I wasnt expecting to be shooting this well this morning, just plinking and playing, but after those first 5 shots i HAD to take a pic....

Dude - either you have HUGE mitts or that is a great group at that distance. Maybe a tactical knife in your hand would spice up the pic too... just kidding.

That carbon fiber barrel is NICE !

You will be able to do the same at 920. That cartridge is amazing. I use 123gr Lapuas, 38gr of R-15 and lapua brass and was consistently hitting spray paint cans at 920( 2 out of 3 shots). Dont know where it was hit but was just amazed to even hit it. Done at AZ Sniper School with 5 witnesses!!! Even the instructor got in on the fun. Didnt have any boobs there but would have been nice!!

Take that load out past 1k if you can. It still performs well out to 1250 that I've verified. I'm guessing you're getting in the 2920-2950fps for speed with the 27" barrel - always a guess though - each barrel is different.

Have you chronied the load yet?

great shooting, I love my 6.5x47, had mine built off of a CZ550 by LSR it is an amazing cartridge, I have been using 38.5 RL 15 130 VLDs. Used some 95 hornadys in SD on praire dogs OH MY GOD !!!!!!!!

not yet, just purchased a chrony. expecting to hit the 2950 mark
