I have one of these scopes on my Rem 700 and I am looking for another scope for that Rifle. I have a 20 inch 3 gun rifle and I was looking at tossing it on that rifle but my 18 inch SPR sports a 3-9 Leupold VX-R Patrol. My SPR is my favorite rifle and find myslef shooting 3x or 9x most of the time with that rifle.

What would you use on the SPR 2.5-10 to bring the magnification down or 3-9 since there is an illumiated dot and the turrets match (mil-mil).

This is what I have right now that I can use because I am looking for anther scope for my Rem700 but if the smater folks think a 3-9 would work well on both the SPR and 20 inch 3 gun with TMR then I will just put the same scope on the 20 inch as I have on my SPR.

Wife just raided my play money so funds are scace and we are going to do another round of IVF next January and that will cost us $16K to have a kid.

I'm a little confused but if you're looking for a 2.5-10 for 700-800 bucks check out the vortex FFP one it is illuminated with parallax control. Really neat little scope. After that I'd get another IOR.

I have both. I do not have the funds anymore due to my wife using the cash for well Christmas presents and I do not charge for much. I will have to wait until after Christmas.

I am just wondering what is better for a SPR my 3-9 VXR Patrol or the IOR 2.5-10X scope. The VXR is mil mil and tghe 2.5-10 mil moa.

There isn't a meaningful difference in magnification range and power between those 2, not enough that would effect fov or target acquisition enough to matter. I would venture a guess the IOR has the better glass and sharper resolution, do you find that to be the case? The Leupy is appreciably lighter weight based on specs.. Do you notice the difference? I prefer IOR's reticle the the VXR's version of the TMR. Mil/mil setups sure make for simpler brainificating to me. It'd be tough to go back.

I have both the VX-R patrol and an older FFP IOR 2.5-10 (the version with the capped turrets). The IOR has better glass and for sure a better reticle. Not the the VX-R has bad glass — it's actually very good for $500. My main complaint with the VX-R, and kind of a deal breaker for me, is that the reticle is so thick (necessitated the illumination) — I can't even see a 1" dot at 100yds because it's obscured, the MP-8 with the floating center dot is so much better for precision shots out to 300yds. The IOR also has more tactile knobs, though I much prefer the low profile design of the VX-R's turets.

... and the turrets match (mil-mil).

For me, this is an absolute requirement on any scope that I may use both the knobs and reticle. Whatever other features are negotiable, but the knobs must match the reticle unless it's a short range scope with capped turrets that won't be touched after zeroing.
