Rifle Scopes 2.5-10x plenty big for a 17 HMR?

I have what I did not know better to buy? A BSA Sweet 17. 6-24. As it turns out it really has been a good little scope for shooting 100 yrds. I was going to replace it with a Vortex Crossfire as I did on my 10/22 but found out when I got the crossfire in house the cross hairs are to thick for bench work. If you can make sure you see the cross hairs first if this could be a problem for you?

I have a standard 3-9 buckmaster on my .17 and it works really well. My rimfire range only goes to 150yds but the scope easily puts hits on 1.5" metal plates.
