I've always wondered if "sneezing" a cylinder head sounds like a mortar launch?

Going into a 25.3 cert 2005 GTO. Hunting for low 5's in the 8th.

    PARTEH. :)

    You build engines too??? o_Oo_Oo_O

Bikes and cars have been a part of my life since I was a kid. I began my machining introduction as a part-time "shop maggot" for Paul Rossi, Richard Conley, and Bill Craddock in S. Cali while in the Marine Corps. Never shook that bug. :)

My 421 LSX I did 2.5 years ago for my street car. A 2004 GTO. Never dyno'd but it puts a 4400lb car into the 6.40's. -Guessing somewhere around 1050 wheel.

My wife's G8 that we just got done with (3 year project). Brought back from the dead. Salvage title car. Now its an LSA setup making 575/580 to the tire.

    That's a sleeper!

Getting acclimated to the new mill with a set of valve covers for the drag car.

Long cycle time which is why I'm loitering here today. -About like watching paint dry.

Hurley Blakney was a partner at the shop my dad lead the engineering department in the 90's. They cut 3 blocks on a 5 axis machine when he built his turbo mustang that ruled the roost back then. That's a money pit that far exceeds everything else on land. Just think if you got into boats like this. They have 2 or 3 engines and they don't last long when you get the props dry in the ocean. Get one boat for Lake Havasu (sp) and you would have another avenue of cool revenue!
    Take a listen

That's fucking sick man!!! Those GTOs came out with an LS2 right? I believe same as a TB SS but I might be wrong. I left the drag scene a while back.

Man, I love some LSx power. Excellent platform for some serious horsepower and sounds. Beautiful job on that engine! How many pounds of boost you going to be running? 15-20?

Bad ass. I used to build road race cars and dabbled in truck fabrication for stuff like SCORE. I still enjoy big power and drag racing.

Ive been out of the game for a long time now. I remember some guys were actually grooving the heads around the chamber and using a copper ring instead of the o-ring head gaskets. It was said they held up to higher boost better and cheaper than buying special head gaskets. I assume that isn’t something that lasted, or just a different way to skin a cat.

I had a buddy that did BMW road race cars and they played with a tall sleeve for the cylinder that went into the head. It was taller than the deck surface. They ran stupid high compression NA engines in the 2 liter M3 cars. It seemed to work well too. He also welded up and reshaped the chambers. I learned long ago cylinder heads and getting air in and exhaust out were he key to power. Lots and lots of tech in that department.

This makes me miss building race cars.

All of it. When it breaks, we went too far, lol. This is "the little motor".

There's a Dart LS Next tall deck block and billet center weight crankshaft in those boxes for the 2.0 version.

Looks like you went to the PRI show and skipped shot Ha!
Kevlar belt will sing a nice tune on that.

Damn it. I’m no longer in this world and people keep trying to drag me back. It’s a rich mans game or someone that has lots of time and access to fooling lol. I can’t afford to do this mess anymore. Hell I can’t even really afford to shoot anymore! That’s a bad ass motor tho!!! Thanks for sharing!

Please for the love of any sort of awesome power, do a forged Raylar gen III big block! I think they are up to 9.0 now? Even the “little” 8.1 can be made into a beast!

an. 8.1 will fit where the LS block does.

This is NA! On pump gas!

just think what an 8.1 blower would do on that! King Kong would hide in the shadows!

I have a Dart LS Next tall deck and billet, center counterweight crankshaft for the next motor. I moved away from SBC and BBC stuff a long time ago. LS packages so much easier in tight quarter cars and the good old school parts are getting tough to find.

Let me know when your ready for a driveshaft. I’ll build you one that will hold up and expedite it. We build the shafts for most of the popular tv shows on now, street outlaws, fastest cars in the dirty south, etc.
