Just finishing my 338 edge, shooting a 30mm scope tube. looking to get a setup where if i want or when i want to work on 1000 +, i can get there. You LR shooters, what do you do ?

I use NightForce scope and I have the ones without a zero stop so I have my smith machine my base around 5-10MOA off the bottom of my scopes adjustment so therefor I have around 90-95MOA of usable MOA in my scope. Usually around 40-50 MOA custom bases is what my bases come out to, but we shoot out to 2100yards with our 338 which most people do not do. This shot takes around 90-95MOA depends on conditions. This also requires your stock to have an adjustable check to get a proper fit! Shooting a 338 out to 1000yards isnt a big deal with most scopes but I personally would at least put a 20MOA base on your gun!
H1000, CCI250, and 300grSMK will be your friend with your Edge!

a canted base to me is looked at like this, and its similar to my philosphy with handguns and condoms:

Buy one, I run a canted base on everything I might shoot past 600 yards. Its nice to have when you need it , like posted above.

ditto. i took my scope off and while i had the chance i put on a 20 moa. should have started with that but i went 0 moa. i did manage to keep using the low rings with the 20moa i had on with the 0 moa.

Ok, Next question. there all made from the same steel, at least the ones that say there steel content. Is there anything better from the 45-50$ ones to the nightforce, IOR 115$ ones ??
