In my experience with my 6.5 creedmoor and 6mm Fat Rat a longer barrel is always preferable, you will get the best harmonics out of a 22" but 24" and 26" are very common, it all depends on what you want to use the rifle for. If you don't have to worry much about lugging it around I would go with the longer barrel.

Use is primarily steel 400-800. One week a year I'll chase probghorns, and may use it for that.
