20" Tikka Varmint .223

I know they had a 20" option for the old T3s, maybe even a threaded 20". I am correct in thinking this? The exact gun I want is a t3 varmint with a 20" 1:8 in 223. Does anyone know if they still make a 20" and if threading is an option? All I see is the 23.7" barrels, I'm pretty sure the sporter can be had with a 20 but since I'll be changing stocks I'd rather save the $ and go with a Varmint, I've also seen something called a T3 scout on gunbroker that looks to have a 20".
Anybody know?

The scout did have a 20" option, and was threaded. Current options don't have a 20" .223. You could buy a longer barrel, and have it cut back and threaded.

Having the barrel cut and threaded would only probably cost $100. Probably cheaper than trying to find a difficult to find model.

What is the story with the Scout? How old of a model is it? I've never heard of one until I saw one on gunbroker, sucks they got rid of it. Wish they made a .223 CTR, don't want to spring for the Tactical.

I have a t3x varmint in an MPA. Couldn't think of a better combo.

I think your right but it's probably like 1500$, for that money I might go with a sporter, paint the factory stock and go with that.

I have a T3x Varmint .223 and it threaded just fine. I like the factory stock for my ergos personally.

I think for a non-magnum round the Tikka action in any chassis would be comparable to a semi-custom.

If you can wait towards the end of the year Euro Optic will be getting a small batch of Tikka Tac A1 223's. They're 20" and threaded. It's very high on my list of rifles to buy.

Now to find some mags that allow longer than 2.30” COAL....

It is possible to cut the 223 mag up to get a longer COAL, but I ended up going MPA chassis.

Accurate Mags; just use a rat tail file/chainsaw file on the front inside lip to allow longer seating....

I have CDI bottom metal on my varmint and I am using the MDT AICS mags. I had to fit/file them to clear the bolt, but they feed really smooth now. Confirmed my dope from 500-800 and it is a hammer. 75 ELDM at 2995 fps.

I am using Nammo brass, CCI 450's, and a healthy dose of H4895 loaded to 2.49" COAL. My barrel is factory length that I had threaded and am using a Harvester. No recoil to speak of. Tempted to shoot a match with it.

Did they throat it when they threaded it? That is a pretty long COAL.

It is the factory chamber. I am seating them .020 off the lands. It had 600 or so rounds of factory ammo through it when I bought it.

The previous owner did. CDI's bottom metal pricing includes them inletting your stock.
