I dont personally own a 204, but when i went to south dakota a guy there was shooting prairie dogs and he said he used benchmark also.

thanks guys and mine is also a savage model 12 also with a 26 inch shooting factory hornady right now .i think its the most accurate out of the box rifle i have owned shooting factory ammo

I have the same rifle. Mine loves the 40 Vmax with a 5 thou jam, pushed by 26.8gr of H335. Runs about 3575 fps.
You can go hotter, but my accuracy node was there.
Shoots .15" 5 shots at 100y, longest I stretched it was 600y, circle around the 5 shots was 3.75"

I have never fed the model 12 any factory stuff. I to am getting sub 1/2" groups at 100yrds. For out of the box accuracy you can't beat the savages, unless of course you go with a tikka.
