208 amax jump?

Re: 208 amax jump?

my 30 Hart (300 wby Imp) likes them right on the lands a lot. i do load them in a few guns and while each one has a sweet spot its a fairly forgiving bullet.

Re: 208 amax jump?

I'm sure it will vary with the rifle, but I would start into the lands and work charge up slowly.

The Factory 140 A-Max Creedmoor ammo is JAMMED. I can feel it stick when trying to extract a live round and the ogive is marked well at least a 1/16". I matched the OAL to the ogive for my Creedmoor and it shoots great JAMMED.

I'm loading the 208 in my .300 WM and just redeveloped the load at a length that scratches up the ogive as well. It shoots well; .8" 5-shot group at 200

Re: 208 amax jump?

I started my load development on the lands and found 69.8 gr of H4831sc to give me some good results. From there I started backing off the lands in .005 increments and found a sweet spot between .020 and .025 off the lands. I,m looking forward to getting out and doing some fine tuning.

Re: 208 amax jump?

Rem 700P factory un-molested rifle, 26" barrel, .300WM.

I started jammed .010" and got to 5 shots 1.3" @ 200 with 78.9 H1000 at 2900fps.

I ended up jumping .020" and got to 5 shots 1.3" @200 with 78.5 H1000 2900fps.

3-shot groups are 1" at 200 with both of these loads.
