What kind of range can I expect from a heavy barreled remington 700, 22-250. And if I do a barrel swap what all calibers could I change to just doing a barrel swap only.

I shoot mine to 500yds regularly and 600 yds once in a while. Don't know how much further it will go but I don't think it'll go much . Mine is a factory Kimber Longmaster w/1-14 twist and I shooting 55gr Noslers BT . If you were to rebarrel with a twist of 1-7 /1-8 you could launch the heavier 75-80gr bullets and get lots more range out of it .
You could go to any caliber with the same size bolt face with a barrel swap only . 243 / 260 / 7mm-08 / 308 / 338 Fed. Any of those will work.

Good stuff! Thanks for the info fellas. And also do any of you know if you can rebarrel a Ruger #1. I have one in a 22-250 also and would like a ruger #1 but maybe in a .260 or 7mm-08 for deer hunting.

I have hit prairie dogs past 1300 yards with mine. mine is an 1/8 twist to shoot 80 grainers. I have shot steel past a mile with mine.

The .22-250 is an outstanding varmint caliber, but barrel heating can be rapid, can rob accuracy, and can create a rapid throat erosion situation. The chambering is best for applications which do not require sustained fire or a rapid firing cadence.
My .223 is 1:12" and doesn't seem to do well with bullets over 55gr. Sierra recommends a 1:10 twist for its 69gr bullets.

Thanks greg. I will probly put 5 or 600 rds down this barrel then rebarrel it in .260 before deer season. Im getting the gun this week and its a good starter. The action has been trued and it has a choate stock which I will probly sell and get a mcmillan. But all in all I think it will be a great gun with a custom fluted heavy .260 barrel on it.
