Range Report 223 53gr Vmax BC .290? BS?

Re: 223 53gr Vmax BC .290? BS?

I'm interested in some real world data on the 53gr as well.

I have about 1000 of my old standby 50gr Vmax bullets on hand but am very interested in trying the 53gr Vmax. If the published BC number is accurate that translates to about 10% less drop, 20% less windage, and 22% more retained energy at 300Y compared to a 50gr Vmax at the same velocity. That's impressive if true.

I might have to order some tonight and whip up some loads to try next week and see how the accuracy is and if the dope agrees with the published BC.

The published BC of the 60 grain V-max is correct. I've shot them out to 800 in my 16" AR and they tracked well with the velocity. I haven't played with the 53 grainers. Previously, I was running the 60 V-max slow and they were key holing at 800. So, I changed powders and picked up some speed and they worked well from then on.

I ordered a couple boxes last night to try. Range report will probably be next weekend at the earliest as they won't be here until next week and I'll have to work some loads up.

Hopefully both my bolt and 24" AR .223 varmint rifles will still like N133 with the 53gr.

While I'm hoping the .290 BC is correct I'm sure the squirrels are hoping it's not.

tag for update.
I had a lot of conflicting load data on the 60 grain vmaxes I am only getting 2880 fps out of an 18" rra a4 over 26.5 gr varget. So I am interested in the 60 loads and any info on the 53's
