Has anyone found a good power for the 75gr ELD-Ms yet? I have had decent results on steel out to 400 yards however the groups are not quite what I am expecting. Currently using RL-15 with fire formed Lapua brass and Fed GMM Primers.

Powders I am looking at are
N140
Varget

Barrel is a 1-8 twist. The ELD-Ms are also a bit slower than the Amaxs were and do not shoot quite a good as the AMaxs.

I have some Varget and planned on it, Mordamer what speeds are you getting with a 75 and 8208? BoilerUP Are you speeds comparable with 8208 and Varget? I am starting to wonder since the ELDs are slower with the same powder charge I need to continue my powder charge testing. I started at 24gr for each bullets and stepped up to 26gr with both using RL15. I am around 2950 with the ELDs

With a standard 24" 223 barrel I got 2950 with 24gr of 8208 in lapua cases at 2.3" OAL. Loading out to the lands at around 2.45", I bet I will get around 3050-3100 with the added room for powder. I've seen some people running around 25.5gr in a standard LC 223 case, but the brass is basically toast after one or two firings.

GGK I am not really looking to push it to the limits but find a accurate load with a good velocity, which I would be fine with anything from 2950-3100, somewhere in the middle would be ideal. I just feel I am spinning wheels to continue to play with RL15. It is still a good fire forming powder.

A few different rifles I have all shoot pretty well in the 23.4-23.8 gr range. In the 24" guns that is around 2900 fps with the 75.

With the 75gr eld what coal?
I have (10th edition hornady it does not list these bullets in the 223 bolt gun pages ?
Does list it in 556 and service rifle listing.
what to use?

75 gr ELD coal length 2405 which in my Remington action with 22” barrel is 35k off the lands.
nodes were straight across the board from 23.4gr Imr 8208 to 24 grs. Awsome groups .5
pressure signs at 24.2gr
mv 2960-3000

75 eldm @ 25.8gr 8208 , ive had 4 so far and every one of them ran between 25-26.2 gr 8208, u want to stomp on brass and primers run 4895 and make sure its not raining

22” , sweet spot for the 223ai, especially if you run a can, barrels are funny, broughton, bartlein, proof and carbon six have all had velocities from 2990-3065, same reamer, goes to show how many different variables are involved from barrel to barrel, i do know that 25.5-.8 has always been the sweet spot for me, even with 80 bergers
