I am looking to develop a heavy-grain load using 80.5gr berger fullbore or 80gr VLD. My issue is that using the .223 accuratemags that I have, my max OAL is somewhere around 2.35". Does anybody have any experiences with either and/or suggestions for which I should look at first? I'm currently using 77gr SMK with pretty good results, but I am looking to try something different.

Awesome, I appreciate it. Any preferences between types of Berger projectiles? I was thinking either the 80.5 fullbore or the 80 VLD. I have only ever used Hornady and Sierra before, so I'm just looking to try something new.

I've been using the 80.5 and they have done well . I'm currently working up a load with the 85.5. The berger's may cost more ,but it's worth it. if you weigh hornady's you may have a spread of 1 to 1 1/2 grns difference. You won't get more than .2 grns difference with the bergers.

it doesn't take much of a cut , just a nice v cut where the tip of the bullet is.
