223 in a AICS Stock?

Re: 223 in a AICS Stock?

Give us a call if you need the .223 magazines (6616) or any AICS for them - all of them are in-stock and ready to ship.

Re: 223 in a AICS Stock?

Not to hijack but it seem people knowledgeable are answering here. Does the AICS magazines work well in the Tikka T3 .223 with RCS combo? Is there anything I should know about that? Quirks? Additional accessories or modifications needed to for example the bolt stop?

I have a Tikka Tactical and I am contemplating moving over to the RCS chassis. I have had an AICS 1.5 and 2.0 for my remington 700 and 40-x rifles already.

Thank you

Gene

At a minimum you will need to modify the mag lips of the AI 223 poly mags (or action) as they are a bit too wide for the Tikka. Regarding the bolt stop, the RCS should ship with a replacement bolt stop.

Wait a minute, so how does the 308 version work? I've seen several pictures of the 308 t3 in rcs stocks with aics mags and no one every mentions anything about modifying the mag or the action to make it work. I thought that the rcs makes it a "plug and play" kit, just bolt everything up and go?

From what I gather the Tikka has dramas with the .223 mag because it is polymer not steel like the .308 mags.
For what its worth, I have an RCS on order for my Tikka .223 (already have the mags) and will be ordering a RCS to suit for my 7mm Mag when they become available. The 223 will be staying in the RCS so Im just going to have a smith open up the mag well for the 223 AI mags.

The alternative maybe to buy a converted 10 round .308 mag? I have one for my AICS and it works well holding up to around 15 rounds of .223

How do you convert the 308 mag to 223? Would like to see detailed instructions with pictures perhaps.

I got the converted .308 mag from SYSS in Barnsley UK. Basically two metal inserts are added down the length of the insides (to reduce internal wall to wall dims) and the lips are folded over further.
