Building a .223 AI, will be running Lapua brass. What bushing sizes are recommended to achieve 1-2 thou neck tension?

Thanks..

Let's say that the neck wall thickness is .013.
Take .013 x 2 = .026
.026 + .224 = .250
.250 - .002 = .248

The above is true only if the neck wall measurement is accurate.

Yep, understand that.. I just don't have brass yet. Lapua has been pretty consistent in my other cals so wanted to know what's worked for others.

Umm...the AMP site lists Lapus brass by lot# with corresponding neck thickness...

That will give you an idea, but if you don’t have the actual brass yet, I’m thinking you might need to buy a crystal ball for your reloading set up...

I just checked a few unturned Lapua 223. Neck walls vary from .0130 to .0135, that’s on the same piece.
I don’t turn them.

Thank you.. will get me close enough to order a few bushings.

I just got a box of Lapua brass for my next .223 project. I used a .248 neck bushing on a Redding bushing style full length sizing die to test fit a bullet. The measurement of the neck with the bullet in it is .2495 so it should have 0.0015 tension I think.

Like @Fret , I’m using .248 busing to neck size my fire formed 223AI Lapua 223 brass.
