I've search and googled this, can't find much.. I've built a 223ai, 700sa with a 1/8 twist krieger barrel finished at 30". Also throated for the vld's. Looking for any help with loads for this setup. Thanks
My load with 80 gr. VLD, HBN coated LC brass CCI 400 26.6 gr H4895 This is a fairly stiff load in my 1:7 twist, 20" barreled Remy 700, Have NOT ran this load in mid-summer heat yet. I had occasional pierced primers with br4's I would trust you would start with a somewhat milder load and work up!
2920-ish FPS out of a 22 inch rock 8 twist. I worked up to 26.6 of TAC, but once the heat of Houston showed up, it put me over the pressure edge. Lesson learned on load development in winter.
If you have RE17 handy you might give it a try. I got 80 grain Sierras up to 2880 in a 20" barrel.
Also there is a gentleman working with the 80-90 grain class bullets in the 30" straight 223 that posts on 6mmbr and long-range.com. I think his screen name is JerryHM.
