224 Valkyrie Craddock precision

I did some searching here and read members have had really good results with the Craddock barrels. I have a Bartlein done by them and just waiting on scope to be able to take it out and test it. Great company and service.

I just finished assembling my Craddock Criterion 22 inch with plus 2 gas. The thick profile. It’s .8 at the muzzle. First box of Hornady 88 match seemed to shoot good. I will let you know next week after my reloading dies get here how it works out.
Keep me updated. I ordered a barrel today. 20” bartlein. I wanted 22 but this deal was to go to pass up.

Got a 22” bartlein 1:7. Shoots factory 88’s .5 MOA.
Still under load developement but shooting 748 at .5 MOA ,trying to squeeze a bit more speed out of her. Messing with benchmark still.
I am impressed with this barrel. Craddock is gtg in my book.

Craddock barrels have never disappointed. Quite the opposite, actually! They are amazing.

I've built two with Craddock Bartlein 20" barrels. They both manage half-MOA (sometimes better if I am on) with Federal 90 SMK and Hornady 88 ELD. (You should see my FOUR shot groups ....)

Please forgive me for the 5.56 magazine in the top photo.

I kept the one with the fluted barrel. A seven pound, 1200 yard-capable (at my usual density altitude) small block AR'. Easy to shoot! You can follow your own trace. You almost always hit - but not that much happens. Just another black spot on the steel .... Boringly accurate.

That's one good looking rifle. What is your velocity with the 88s?

Today range session this is at a 1000yds. Wind was blowing around but the vertical is sub MOA. I have a 1-6.5 Bartlein with a 24inch barrel. Shooting 88 ELD loaded with super performance and Starlite brass. Pushing 2700 fps

I've had a 20" Bartlein from Craddock since January. Shooting primarily factory Hornady 88 ELDs. The below performance was with a sub optimal stock and grip setup. I hope the better setup I got will lead to more consistency.

5 shot groups are between .5 - .8 inch at 100. Groups end up on the higher end when I throw a flyer or when the barrel is dirty (about 350-400 rounds until accuracy opens up). If I throw a flyer, often times the 6th shot would end up back in the main cluster of the group.

The one time I did a 10 shot group, it was standing up and getting back in prone between shots. The group was still a hair under an inch.

American Eagle 75 TMJ is about 1.5" at 100 with erratic zero shifts between groups.

Federal 78 TSX shows a lot of promise. First 6 shots were .75" overall, with 5/6 in a .5" cluster.

Sorry for bumping the old thread, but I'm interested if you or anyone else could fill me in on the gas system on this? Looking at picking up a Craddock barrel in 224, and seeing they offer a +1 and +2 rifle gas system for the 20". Having only ever used mid and rifle length, I'm trying to determine how much gas block would be left uncovered with a 15" MI handguard. Preferably would like it completely covered, so hoping this is a +2 and bumping down to a +1 would put me about flush at the end.

Furthermore, are +2 gas systems on a 20" that much more preferable than a +1? Thanks for any insight.

For my rifle +1 system, the end of gas block body (using a Superlative Arms gas block) is at 14.75" from the receiver face. The adjustment screw extends out roughly another 0.25 - 0.5". So, an actual 15" handguard will cover the block, but may leave a bit of the screw exposed depending upon it's setting.

Awesome, just what I was hoping to hear, thanks.

Did a +2” on a 20”, 223 and it was really nice for running 77s.
Definitely go +2” for 224 as you be running as much, or more, of same, or slower, burn rate powder if wanting to shoot the heavier / heaviest bullets.

I have a 20” +2 GB spiral fluted 1:7 Bartlein in 224 Valkyrie l. It is hit or miss with factory ammo. (88-90 grain)

It’s not a stabilization issue as I built my daughter a bolt gun in 224 Valkyrie on a Bartlein barrel and her gun is a laser.

The AR stays under 1 MOA. Sometimes 0.5 MOA. I reload for it now. More consistent at 0.5 MOA.

Take note of the 88 ELD’s. I had several tips break off during feeding. I’m sure those shot affect accuracy.

I can shoot spray paint cans at 500 yards!
