Hey all.
I’m in the market for a bolt action .22lr with a threaded barrel. I’m unsure of what brands and models to go after. My budget is pretty low since I already blew through my budgeted gun money for this year 😂. So I had the brilliant idea to try and trade for one. I posted on a local forum looking to barter or sell my marlin 882 SS .22 mag. Had a trade/sell value of $350 on it. So far the only offers I’ve gotten are just run of the mill 70’s bolt guns or single shots with out threaded barrels. Basically $150 dollar guns.

So my questions are what are some decent options in the $350 range and am I being unreasonable in my price? Or am I attracting people that are just trying to Trade up?

Keep in mind any precision 22lr gets (more) expensive
when you kit it for sights/optics and what not...
yup...the bill adds up pretty quick, even if you're efficient and do your homework. If you have to go through a few scopes to figure out the one that you really like, for example, all bets are off lol. I hope your ammo budget is better than your gun budget. Concur with everyone else, CZ is the way.

+1 for the CZ, and 455's might be had at a discount with 457's on the scene. Love my 455, only reason I'm selling it to a friend is to get one more of my guns into a R700 footprint.

Cz will shoot, good bang for the buck.

The savage fvsr is threaded and shoots well too. The magazine setup is shitty, but usable. They can be had without spending too much.

The Cz is nicer for sure. I shoot both. Cz mags are far better as well as fit and finish. Savage is in a chassis, so the differences there are less than I'd you had a factory jobber there. Trigger on cz is better, but savage is workable. They both shoot very well with ammo they like.

IF you can afford it, get the cz. If that's not doable, savage can do the job from what I've seen.

Definitely watch the used market. Buy once cry once.

If budget is the real concern, it is hard to beat the Savage MkII or Savage B Series. Several guys in our local club shoot these and that is what I started out with myself. If your plan is to shoot NRL22 or just backyard plinking the will do anything you need to. A little bit more money will get you into a Tikka or a CZ like mentioned above and they are definitely a step up in quality.

I dont know much about the 882 or if that is a correct value for it, but the market for rifles you are looking to trade for is pretty hot right now and I dont think I can say the same for the 882 or 22 mag in general. It may be hard to get a trade for what you want. Your better option would probably be to sell the rifle then start watching the PX here, GB or Rock Island auction.

I like my cz457 pro varmint. I have a Ruger American rimfire target sitting in an mdt lss chassis that shoots ok. If I had to choose one, it would be the cz cause it looks better and the stock is easier to get resting places since it is wider in the forearm. Only thing so far I have noticed is when I added the 30moa area419 rail, i had to add a check piece to pick my head up just a tiny bit.

That’s what I’m thinking as well... small market for the 882 and a bunch of guys that want to shoot on a “precision .22 platform” on the cheap because ammo is crazy expensive.
I may have to just sell it outright and try and find a cz or tikka. I’m not opposed to spending more money but the wife and I made a deal, I have a 4K budget per year for guns and accessories anything over that I put 5x the purchase price aside for renovations on the house. The deal was fine until starred getting into higher end stuff. Already hit my $4k budget this year 😂 I may have to re-negotiate that one
