You will probably find yourself wishing it had a faster twist.
Most who use the .243 like to use the high bc bullets around 100-115gr and they like the 1 in 7.5 to 1 in 8.5 twist.

Do not fret nobody. Berger makes a 87g hunting vld that will do just fine out of that rifle.

I have a 6mm Remington in 1:10 twist. It handles 95gr VLDs just fine and 100gr Remington corelocks work well too. With the 95gr Beger VLDs, I shot a 199 out of 200 in a 600yd F-class shoot, and that is out of a 26" barrel hunting rifle. So, 1:10 is fine unless you plan to shoot comps out to or past 1000yds, IMO.

ditto on whats been said, the gun will shoot fine if you keep bullets under 95 grains, maybe 100 if they are a non VLD regular type bullet. it just depends on what you wanna do with the gun. its too bad more 243's weren't available with faster twist, say an 8.5 twist.

My 243 is and 8 and my 6mm's are 9's. I really like the 8 on the 243. It shoots the 105's great. The 9's on the 6mm's do everything from 55's to 100's well and even seem to stabilize the 105 amax.
