Re: 250 gr lc bullet in 625 smith? loads??

Cast or jacketed? Makes a big difference with pressures for a 625.

these are a lazer cut mfg. there closer to a lead than cast says can be pushed to jacketed speeds but I would load lightly for the test

Bill,

Which S&W 625? 45 ACP or 45 Colt? In my 45 ACP the heaviest handload I use is a 200 gr LSWC over 6.5 grains of Universal. In my 45 Colt, 250 gr LSWC gets 7.5 grs Universal. Neither is a 625. My 45 ACP is a Franken Smith built on a Model 28 frame, Model 25 Cylinder in 45 acp, and a Model 26 barrel cut to 5". My 45 Colt is a straight Model 25 w/6" barrel.

Re: 250 gr lc bullet in 625 smith? loads??

Bill,
I run a 265gr cast with 11grs of longshot or 9grs of titegroup for about 950fps with either load. Im putting them in the same 625 model you have running the .45LC cases

If you are using the .45acp cases I dont have any info other than whats already out there in the manuals.

For a few years I used a 272gr cast full wadcutter with bullseye for bowling pins but cannot find my load info. I do recall it ran about 800fps and was real soft shooting but hell on the pins.

Norcal
Thanks , the 45 lc cases fit in the 45 rim???
I will start a few rounds and work up from there

Thanks Will start at 4.5 gr of 700x and the 250's I am using 4.4 gr of 700X with 230's and there us no problem at all.
