These are the thing you need to look for when doing load development. Just shooting small groups at 100,200yrds won't tell you what the load is doing. You need to find out what the velocity and ex-stream spread and standard deviation is of each group in the ladder is.
A chrono should be used while doing a ladder test. The shot pattern will show a accuracy node (each bullet hole should be marked) and the velocities will be close. On the upper end velocity gains will diminish, that will be the max load for that rifle. Where the accuracy node is (for 3-4 shots) load up 5 with each load and shoot groups over the chrono. Take the load with the lowest E/S and SD. and load 10 and shoot at 500 yards or more. If the load shoots to your expectations you're done.

by shooting one of each load i ment one of each powder charge. i was shooting over a chrono.
it is a bullet problem i had some 142smk bullets i use in another rifle. i loaded 5rds @43 gr (medimum charge) sohot them into a 1 inch group at 230yds. i just need to find a hunting bullet that acts like the 142 smk. i defintally know the 10vdl is a no go in this rifle
