I know there are several guys here using Winchester 7mm-08 brass in the 260, hoping to get some answers. I've searched and read then searched some more, but a few questions remain.

#1 - What size bushing are you using in the Type s dies? I think 288 is what I want, but need input. Again, this assumes Winchester brass.

#2 - I see some guys say they are running them through the FL sizer first. Can I use the Type S FL sizer with bushing or do I need to buy a seperate standard FL sizing die that doesn't have a bushing.

#3 - What other prep techniques (Winchester brass users only please) are you using before the first firing. I refuse to neck turn so I'm hoping it's not much.

#4 - Any other tips?

Jason

Re: 260 reloaders using the 7-08 brass - Questions....

Jason, i dont neck down or up so i cant help on that end but the bushing i am running in my Type S Neck die is a .289. If you dont already have the brass i would look at necking up 243 Lapua brass, you wont have to neck turn then.

Re: 260 reloaders using the 7-08 brass - Questions....

I've thought about that route, but T Cross uses WW and that's good enough for me.

Plus, I have 600 pcs of Lapua 243 brass for my 243...and having the same headstamp for a 260 will really make things confusing. Just easier to use something else.

I am wondering the exact same question. I have a .289 bushing for the Rem brass and just received some Win 7mm-08 to play with.

Standard die or Type S w/ bushing?

Jason, this isnt meant to be a smart ass remark, but why dont you just email Terry and see what he is doing. Thats what i did and he let me in on what he was doing.

i had some of the same as you. But if it helps any i have heard of guys necking down 7-08 to 260 by just running it in a neck sizer with the desired bushing. No neck turning needed. PM 7MMRM on here, he helped me out with it.

Re: 260 reloaders using the 7-08 brass - Questions....

I use a regular Forester resizing die with WIN 7-08 brass with no issues. And it shoots very well.
If neck tension is the issue, make a dummy round and then get the appropriate bushing.

... looks like I need another bushing? .289 not enough tension with Win brass???

Re: 260 reloaders using the 7-08 brass - Questions

Well, I think I've decided to go with .288 for my first bushing. I might change that once my brass/bullets get here, but I'm sure the 288 will allow me to load some ammo and get load developement started.
