Ogallala ne,
Any one have any experience with the 270-284 or a 270-308 imp? Looking for your opinion. Dont have a 270 in my collection think this may be the way to go. Thanks in advance for your help.

What advantage do you see with the .277 diameter bullet over .284? Most would go the other way.

I dont know that I see any advantages but i do have a 270 barrel and a savage to twist it onto. Just looking for something different. Really liked the 270 wsm I had so want to use up my old bullets.

If you already have everything (barrel, bullets, brass), then it will work. I love my 270 Win. But, there are bullets with higher BC's for long range shooting in the .284 (7mm) size. If it's a hunting rifle, then it won't matter too much. I say go for it and post your results. You'd probably have to work your own load data for the round. But should be too hard.

Get P. O. Ackleys book "Notes for shooters and reloaders" I believe both cartridges are listed. But, it will give you a variety of wildcats to choose from. Let us know who it turns out.

Good luck.
