im swapping my 26" 308 barrel to a friends 28" 6mm CM this week. is 28" gonna be a hindrance for prs?

Me an my 14 year old son switched to 28” M24 barrels in 6br this year with Area 419 brakes don’t really notice the difference.
I’m shooting a 26” barrel and 7” suppressor. Ports take a little more time but otherwise I don’t think it really limits me.
I just replaced the 24” 6SLR barrel on my Badger action with a 28” 6 Creed barrel. Looks funny, but I don’t foresee any issues. It has a mount for a 9” SAS Arbiter, but I probably won’t compete with it suppressed.
I ran 28 inch Savage Bull for 2 years and I have gone back to 24 inches. I am glad I switched back but I do miss the velocity.
I've been shooting a L-W 28" 260 with a Savage Varmint Contour for about 16 years (somewhat sparingly, but there was a 2-3 year stint of 1000yd F Open with about 1/2 dozen events per year, 60rd/per event). I call it "Long Tom", and it's still shooting the same as when it was new in 2003(4?).
I think it's like any other bore length, once you get used to it, the difference just fades away into the background.
There is a difference, though; I can load my ammunition a bit less harshly to get the same velocity. That's probably a key part of why this barrel continues to serve me so well. It will do 2850fps, I consider 2650 to be the minimum effective, and I split the difference.
I prefer to evaluate such things in terms of experience, and not of conjecture.

Ghost Dancer, if I remember correctly? I remember when it was new, I read all your updates and ended up with a .260 of my own.
Still shorter than running a 22-24” and putting a can on the end that adds 6-7”. Many do that and don’t worry about it. ?
Yes, precisely. The original went with the factory 24" and spent a session on the Whittington Centerfire Silhouette Range getting consistent hits on a 12" gong at 1Km in 2002. The L-W barrel came a year later. More would have been heard about its performance, but truth be said, I'm just not that wonderful a marksmen.
The project entailed 3 rifles, with outstanding sponsor participation from McMillan, and Sharpshooter Supply in particular. Those were great days. Of the three, I believe mine is the only one that's still in existence, but I'd love to be wrong about that.
When you add up the 28" barrel and 16.5" LOP on my Dancer, you come up with somewhere around 53" of length, just about the same as a 91/30 (Hence the moniker, "Long Tom"). Until I got that shotgun case for it, I would simply take the barreled receiver out of the stock, and stow the two parts in a conventional rifle case. This never seems to have caused any real issues for me.

With a 28” barrel my 260 will still fit into my small AR soft case when folded.

I've flown numerous times, both domestic and international, with my 30" FTR rifle and *never* been charged for oversize baggage.
Technically, almost any long gun case really *is* over the limit - 62.5 linear inches (L + W + H) but I've never seen, or heard of, an airline actually checking/measuring that. They throw it on the scale, and as long as it's under 50 lbs, you're golden as far as they're concerned. TSA is a separate ordeal
Either that is one big honkin' case (bigger than the Storm i3300 I've used for 10+ years), or you caught the *one* airline check-in agent who actually knew the rules...

Same here. Flown all over with 28" barrels and no issues with size. As long as under weight you are fine.
