i see a few ways to go here. Is the Remington 280 brass ok? Would I be better off getting a .270 or 30/06 brass and necking it up or down? Is the Federal gold medal brass ok? I see it in 270 and 30/06. Anyone shooting H4831SC, 4000MR, or 7977 with the 162 A max or ELD?

I recently used Hornady .280 A.I. brass. Of course I had to size, flash hole debur, and trim, but the brass did well. With a 162 gr I took it way up on the powder charge scale, and the brass did just fine. H-4831 SC was the powder used, and it did well.

Remington is ok, but you’ll probably loose 10% in the sorting of cases. Lapua 30-06 necked down would be the best although it may be a little shorter in the neck. Watch to make sure you remove any carbon rings left in the chamber.

They had Nosler for about .12 cents more per case than Hornady. I went with the Nosler. I hadn't even thought about the trim length being short on 30/06 after blowing the shoulder forward. I better just make it easy, but I guess easy would be shooting something I already have.
