Finally got around to machining the reamers to chamber this up.
Had 31"Kreiger for several yrs.... project has been on hold since building the 22 Grendel IMP which is such a fun little caliber to shoot.

My original idea was build a 7 SAUM or WSM for a long range steel/fun gun, the availability and price of brass changed my thinking!

284 Shehane got my attention and with good brass available decided to make a reamer based off 284 Win.

What I came up with is a min taper case with 40°shoulder ,similar to a 284 KMR (which at time I drew up my reamer I knew nothing about)

To save barrel life I machined a hydro form die .
After hydro form and one firing to further form brass it is right at 5 grains more capacity than virgin 284 Norma .

It seemed like it was going to shoot from the start of fireforming

so I loaded up some fired brass with 180 ELDM over H4831sc...

Shot some of the hydro formed brass at 900 yds first 2 on steel showed promise as well.

When barrel gets done speeding up and actually do some load development I report back if any interest....

Following up....so how did this 40 degree shoulder Shehane variant work out for you? You mentioned an extra 5 grains over straight .284 where the Shehane is like 3.3 grains over. Be interested to hear the SD/ES comparisons to normal 35 degree shoulder Shehane and if what 180s worked the best for you. Also, what is the reamer name you finally settled on? Shehane AI?
