Somehow my post got deleted, not sure what happened, apologies.
So some co-workers on one of our special response teams clued me in to these chassis and I really like the looks of it. The reason I got a little excited is I've wanted to try and do a .30-06 bolt action build for a while. I have a passion for the caliber ever since first shooting my M1 Garand. I also reload and have everything I need for a .30-06 bolt application. This seems like I could make it work but i have a few questions, and I'm open to any suggestions.

I'm looking at Defiance actions out of Mt. It seems like the Rebel one can be ordered in everything I need and would be compatible with the Chassis. I would still need to call them and talk to a sales rep to confirm.

For a barrel I'm leaning towards a McGowen. They seem quite reputable and in looking at their website they have experience with matching their barrels to the Defiance action.

Geisselle Super 700 Trigger group. And Haven't settled on a muzzle brake yet.

The stumbling block would be the magazines. I've done some research into it. The AICS .300 Win Mag magazines can be modified to accept and reliably feed in a Remington 700 LA .30-06 build. I'd like to use the AXAICS chassis over the ATAICS chassis, but there's one problem and a major question I have on the build. The only single stack, 10 rd. magazine in .300 Win Mag is magazine #4368. The #26091 magazine is a double stack, and I'm pretty sure it's not compatible with the two chassis. The AI magazine poster shows, and my research show, that the #4368 magazine is only compatible with the ATAICS chassis. I'd prefer to build on the AXAICS chassis, but not with only a 5 round magazine option in the #6801 magazine.

So any thoughts or information or help with my questions on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You can easily tweak the lips of a .300 wm A.I. or Accurate magazine to accept the 30-06 cartridge. I have done it with great success in three separate rifles. All with A.I. stocks running 300wm magazines with the 30-06 and Remington 700 pattern actions.

Those a beautiful looking builds my man. Question how many .30-06 rounds are you fitting into a 5 rd. .300 Win Mag AICS magazine? And that is a AXAICS chassis in the first picture correct? Do you know if the #4368 10 rd. magazine fits in that chassis?

Thank you for the kind words. I can fit six -06 rounds comfortably in a standard 300wm A.I. magazine which also fits the AX chassis and feeds them properly minus the front lip.

Following. This is similar to what I’d like to do as well. I love to see the ‘ol graybeard .30-06 still kicking ass and taking names

The difference between the two A.I. magazines is the lip on the one for the ax chassis. The lip is there so you can tip it into the chassis. The regular magazine needs to be inserted straight into the ax chassis.
