I am looking at using my 300 blackout for personal home defense but i was wondering if anyone had any data on bullets being shot through drywall, denim, glass, etc. For personal defense, this is what i was going to use.

Hornady 110gr Soft point
20gr H110 powder

This has an estimated velocity of 23,000 ft/s out of a 16" barrel.

I would like to use this out of a 12" barrel.

What are your thoughts or recommendations on using 300 Blackout for personal home defense?

23,000 ft/s? I'm guessing you meant 2,300.

I think you're going to have substantial penetration. I shoot both a 300 blkout and the similar 7.62x39 (ballistics) from an AR and am regularly surprised by what the rounds are capable of doing. I have several wooden target stands and 1/4" mild steel targets that can attest to the 300's ability to go through things.

I could easily see rounds reaching neighbors and certainly adjacent rooms.

You can lump the blackout into the 7.62x39 for penetration conversations. If you're in the middle of BFE...okay, but you will have overpenetration in an urban environment with this round. I'm building an AR...and Remington just released a 16" bolt action 700 in this cartridge. It has it's place. SBR or not...with an AR...I'd go with some heavy bullets (75-77 grain) for your HD use if the AR is the intended platform.
