Hey all I got my .260 done and it's shooting great out to 1000yds with the 140 VLD's. So it got me thinking about a new winter project.
I have a Remington 700 Magnum action and a Savage action in .300 Win Mag. So I got thinking about a .338 for long range (past 1000yds). I was ready to go with the .338 Edge, but looking through the site at Berger, I came across the new .308 230gr VLD. I have a pretty good stash of .300 Ultra Mag brass so it got me thinking. What about a .300 Ultra with a 1:10 barrel for the 230. With a BC of .719 it ought to be good out to 1600+.
So what do you all think? Should I just go with the .338 Edge, or should I barrel it in the .300 Ultra for the heavy bullets?
Thanks for all the great info so far.
