Re: 300 Whisper

Its a 700 lumen monster. Lights up the world to nearly 300 yards which is max effective for the round. Getting a night scope from a coworker which will let me swap it for an IR illuminator.

+1, would also be interested in a functional report.

KNS anti-walk pins. Have a Bushnell 4200 FFP mildot coming which I want to get mounted before I take it out. Heading to my friends range this weekend to work up a load using 220gr SMK's.

Re: 300 Whisper

Now there's something to put a can on! What's your normal target with that light? Yotes? coons? badgers?

FWIW, I had shoulder surgery back in Dec '08. I suggest two things:
One, stick with the itty-bitty li'l excercises your Physical therapist will give you. Religiously.
Two, do the other shoulder too. You'll atrophy whether you want to or not. Take your time and build the muscle back up. I went back to work too soon and one night, after I thought all was well and good I pulled a muscle pulling chalks out from under the wheels.

What was embarrassing was about 20 days after I had it I fell down out at the range. Had to do a lot of rolling in the snow to get up. And it didn't feel too good.

Re: 300 Whisper

Just finished up working up a load for the whisper. After trying out three different powders, multiple charges, seating depths, ended up with the following: 2.2600 OAL, 220 SMK, LC brass modified to 300whisper (Kyle Kelly), CCI primer, and 11.0gr A1680 resulting in 1043fps. Gun needed NO modifications with this load (spring/buffer), and cycled 100% with bolt locking back on an empty mag. Accuracy is acceptable at 1.2"@100yrds given the range of the round. Overall very happy.
