I have tried several different powder charges of H1000 and even Black Hills 180 Accubond rounds. I can't seem to get better than 0.5" groups where as I can shoot my custom .300 win mag with 208 amax's into one hole groups. I am thinking its seating depth. Thoughts?

Just because it shoots well with one bullet/powder combo doesn't mean everything will be 1/2 MOA loads. Before you waste any more bullets and powder you should google OCW, read it, follow it and work up a load from there. At least then you will have confidence that you are shooting the best possible load for that bullet/powder combo in your rifle.

I couldn't get H1000 and 180 gr Accubonds to do better than 1" in my rifle. I haven't tried the 208s yet. Were you using H1000 with the 208's?

Yeah. 76 grains of H1000 at 3.610". Robert Gradous and Dana English have both done .300 win mags for me and both do very very well with that. Of course your rifle might not like the load but I would at least try the powder charge.

Nosler's reloading manual says that H1000 was their "Most accurate powder tested" for the 180 Accubond.

Robert Gradous just finished my 300 WM hunting rig. Stiller Predator, #3 Bartlein, Mcmillan hunter with Edge. We worked up a load for 208 Amax using 76.3g of H1000 and Fed 215 primers we got them shooting 1/4" groups. We worked on 200g Accubonds for almost 50 rounds and never got better than 1-1/2', then worked on Berger 210 hunters and got about the same results.

I was was thinking about changing powder, anybody got any suggestions?

I'd be happy with 1/2 inch groups at a 100. I want to try H-1000 but need to find some first. My 300 Win. Mag. was also shooting 1/2 inch groups with IMR-4831, and 180 grain Accu-bonds, but the pressure was too great. Heavy bolt lift and extraction. I am going to try some new components.

Reloader 22 works well for 300 win mag. My buddy is getting higher velocities with Reloader 22, 208's and a 22" barrel than my 26" 300 win mag using 208's and H1000.

Adjusted seating depth to 3.50" and with 81.2 grains of H1000, its now one ragged hole. I only had one round left for the chronograph and got 3086 fps. I measured the ogive of my 208 AMAX load and that's how I got 3.5".
