Hey everyone, looking for help considering a load for a 300 Win Mag shooting the new Hornady 190 GR CX bullet. It has a longer ogive compared to other weights which I believe is more tailored to 300 PRC but I was thinking it would work in my 300 win mag. I like the 190 because the BC (.575) is so much better then the 180 Gr CX (.469) I am looking to replace my Barnes TTSX bullets for hunting with a longer range more efficient bullet design in Lead Free.

Thoughts? I typically shoot RL22 powder, anyone have a recipe that uses this combo?

Rifle has a 24" barrel and 1-10 twist

Thanks in advance!

Can't help you with RL22 but if memory serves me correctly the Wimbledon Cup Match had a fair amount of winners using IMR4350 and in particular about 66 grains behind a 190 Sierra HPBT MK. Interestingly that load was used in .30-.338, and .308 Norma Mag. so probably could be used to bring about 2,750 fps to the table in a 300 Win Mag. though you would have to crunch the numbers/data on your computer.

Did you get a good load for your 190's? My 300 win mag recipe has been 70.4 gr of Reloder 22 with 190 gr smk.... ymmv

I found 2 good loads in my 300 Win with the 190 CX. 72g RL 23 and 71.3 g H4831SC. Both COL 3.52. Both shot .6 moa with sl windy conditions. RL 23 provided around 90fps more. SD for the 4831 load was 6, SD for RL23 load was 9. Peterson brass, CCI250 primers. Hope this helps
