Hello, new to the site.

Not very knowledgable on 300 Win Mags at the moment and was told by a 'confident individual' that the average 300 win mag bullet will not stabilize til about 700 yards. He told me that the groupings anywhere clsoer than that will be all over the place because of this.

Im very reluctant to believe this, but wanted to see if anyone on this site more knowledgable than I could either confirm or deny this claim.

Thanks for the help

+1 on what Pat M said. My .300 WM is damn near as accurate as my .308. Federal Gold Medal Match 190 GR is a good starting point if you are not reloading your own..

Hmmm... sounds to me like somebody never got a handle on the recoil and came up with a more logical explanation.

My 300 will group as tight as I can shoot. I shoot 208 Amax's which have a bit of a reputation for not grouping that well and have shot some groups in the .2's with them. That same load is moa or less for as far as we want to walk out and paint steel.

There are certainly some challenges to shooting good groups with a 300WM for the novice, but inherent instability at short ranges is not one of them.

Thanks for the info everybody. Yeah im not afraid to call someone out on bogus info regarding 168 and 175 grain .308 ballistics, but not so much for this. Aprreciate the feedback.
