Re: 300 wm loads

Look in the reloading forum, up top and youll see loads for 300wm.plenty info.
I'm good with 208 amax 78 gns H1000 cci250 win brass.3.6" oal Trg42.

I've only shot it out to 600 on a small piece of steel.very consistent load in my rifle.start low at 76 grns and work up checking pressures signs.

Re: 300 wm loads

I ended up needing 80grains of H1000 with the 208s to get into the 2900FPS range...

No signs of pressure with a 26" tube...

WOW, I don't know how you guys are loading this much powder. Are you loading factory length?

I'm loading 220gr SMK at .005 off the lands over 71.5gr of H1000 with Rem 9.5m primers and, I can't go much hotter than that or I'll show pressure. I'm right at 2800fps with that load. My OAL is around 3.54.

I've shot that load at 73.5 and it gives about 2860fps out of my 26" tube but, when I load like that, you're not going to get much in the category of brass life.

If I loaded 80gr of H1000 ( even with 208s ) I'd blow up my rifle if I loaded to my OAL.

Re: 300 wm loads

I've been wondering the same thing Woolf... must have a ton of freebore and a really stout action.

In Nosler/Federal brass I run 76.2 gr of H1000 over CCI 250's behind 208's, .005" off the lands (about 3.665" COAL). When it's over 90 deg. F, I get *occasional* harder than normal bolt lift, so I'm probably close to the limit. This is in a Tikka action, 22" hand-lapped 1:10 tube. I get 2860 fps and have used this load effectively to 1900 yds.

I get similar velocities from 77.2 gr in Winchester brass, but have yet to find a combo that shoots as accurate as the Nosler/Federal.

I think it just goes to show how rifles can act very differently.

I'd never try to chamber stuff I reload for my rifle in someone else's rifle.
