-preferably looking for Norma, Nosler brass but will take Hornady
-any factory ammo I am interested in also for barrel break in but would prefer the above brands for reloading purposes

In the process of building a 300 WSM, so busy collecting components as well. Have paid way too much for fully prepped Nosler brass ($3.44 each). Will probably just order Norma brass next time, as it is cheaper ($2.37 each), and i can do the prep myself.

Have noticed today that OpticsPlanet is selling Norma loaded (hunting) ammo for cheaper than new Nosler brass price. About $1.85 per round:

Nosler buys (or at least used to buy) their brass from Norma, and then manually prep the flash holes and the necks.

Norma brass has a good reputation. Maybe pull the bullets, and reuse the remaining components, which are worth 2x more than what you paid. You could also sell the hunting bullets on this site.

    Just an idea.

I purchased a case of Nosler AB 180g from a local guy for $53/box so I have 200 rounds of loaded ammo that I need to shoot and test, if they end up not working in my gun I'll then just go through and pull all of them. Thanks for the reply though guys.

I have some 300 wsm. Not sure of brand off the top of my had as I’ve had it about a year. Think I have 3 boxes of federal and some Winchester. I’ll shoot you a message in a few hours

Curious what powder gives you guys the best speed for the heavy 30 cal projectiles (220 and 230 gn bullets)?

About to pull the trigger on a 300 WSM build. Likely a 28” barrel.

So all I have for spare 300 wsm ammo is 40 rnds federal and 35 rnds Winchester 150gr ballistic tips.

Norma hunting ammo (300 WSM) was in stock at OpticsPlanet yesterday, it was gone quickly.

All good. Not hurting my feelings posting on here. I went with 26” and shooting berger 210 at 2920 fps with R26 not pushing it super hard.

    Nice looking rifle!

In your pressure test with RL-26, at what point did clear pressure signs show up with the 210 gn bullet?

Should give me some rough idea of what RL-26 might do with a 230 gn. Or a 241 Seneca.

I’m assuming 25 fps per inch of additional barrel length, is that realistic?

It was around 69.2 gn, I am currently using 67.8 gn for that speed node.

Did some reading about Reloder-26. This article provides the best summary (that i could find):
