300 WSM powder choices

Sending a Wilson arms blank out to be chambered in 300 WSM. Hopefully have it back in a month or so, so maybe that would give me some time to find some powders.

Checked the thread for 300 wsm-300WM but didn't see a ton for 300 WSM and even less with the class of bullet I wanted.

Any suggestions on a good powder for 150-168 grain bullets. It's a 1-10 twist at 24" if that makes an difference.

The Hodgdon Reloading site returns 114 loads for 300 WSM with bullets from 150 - 168.

That forms a decent list of candidate powders from that outfit alone. Most of the powders on the 150 end don't show all the way to the 168 end, but one or two come close. The difference between 150 to 168 doesn't seem like much, but this is just the way internal ballistics can be... Some of the best at 150 won't be your best, or possibly won't be the best at 168. You will have to give it a try.

Try H4350 for an example of one that seems to span the whole weight range pretty well.

Okay great. I do have some h4350 for my 6creed. Maybe I'll try and get some more of that and also look at hodgdon

R-17 and H-4350 are good powders and I'm using WLRM primers in the 300WSM and 270WSM. I got my first 300WSM/270WSM before R-17 but new 300WSM using R-17 good powder.

I’m pushing a 185 Berger with H4350 out of a 20” barrel at 2900fps.
