300 yd and in ar-15 load

I have an 18in WOA spr Ar-15 barrel. Looking to put together a load for 300yards and in for a local match

just curious to what everyone would go with, i have my inital thoughts but wanted to hear from the board

If 300 yards is max, go light and fast for less drop. A 55 grain would be good.

Chad's on top of this one. I'd suggest the 52 Amax for the bullet to use. Start somewhere around 24.5gr of H335 and work up, my sweet spot is 25.5 in several 223's be it bolt or gas.

40VMAX from woa 18" 1-7 at 3200fps,Was great out to 300 yards.

If running a slow twist barrel, 52gr. Hornady's and crank the piss out of 'em.

If running a fast twist barrel, I'm partial to 69gr. SMK's at about 2850. It's my 3-Gun load and Larue's and flashers at 400 are no problem.

I have a 20" WOA DMR barrel. I don't think the 2" would make a big difference. While I was developing a load I found that I was getting better groups with the heavier rounds. I tried Federal XM-193, M855, 65gr SGK handloads and 69gr SMK handloads. I am planning on loading the 77g SMK. I like to test a variety of ammo to get a good evaluation. Good look.

69 SMK if your only going out to 300.

24.5 gr Varget under a 69gr SMK
Same powder 77gr SMK
If you ever get to 600
Same powder over a 75 gr A-max loaded long

+1 on the 69gr. SMK. There's probably no more accurate bullet on the market than the SMKs.

i have a pretty solid 68g Hornday load as backup
