Just finished this tonight before dinner, donor was a .223 Varmint 700 from the classifieds here, now has:

1 in 8 Bartlien barrel, a little over 17" long
1x8 USO scope with illuminated circle reticle
Shark suppressor ( may switch to Surefire )
Zeiss rings
Larue pic rail
Stock Remington trigger and stock
waiting for sling studs and WASP

A little better shot, with some AI Covert porn on the chair too.

Planning to shoot it a bit tomorrow, work permitting. Was supposed to shoot all day getting ready for a match Sat/Sun, but have mid-morning meeting now.

Did not true action, or paint yet. If the long awaited WASP ever arrives, I'll add an IMUNS to the front of it, but waiting until it's in hand before cutting on the stock. I have learned one thing, if you thread an action on the barrel, while still in the lathe, and trued up after threading and chambering, you can check the runout of the action bore, at the end furthest from the recoil lug. If that is true, it will usually shoot good. If not, then should have trued the action first. I don't do much action work, most of my stuff is new actions, but have learned to check that. This one was pretty good.

Had a small hiccup with the Larue rail, it is undersized by about .004. I mounted the scope last night, in a spare set of NF rings, and couldn't get them tight on the rail. Measured another rail, and another, this one was small, those rings wouldn't get tight enough. Had a set of medium 30mm Zeiss rings, at home, so went back tonight with them, threaded the muzzle and put it together. A little taller than I'd like, but looks like it will work. Had a 30mm Larue mount, but for an OBR, so it's a little tall, and didn't feel like taking the scope in that mount out.

Have several hundred 208 subsonic AMAX ready to go, got to find out how it shoots now!
