Cant find any recipes for Berger 185's in 300winmag.

With the H4831 the starting loads get smaller as the bullet mass goes up.

Did a ladder test starting @ 69.0 up to 74.0. Concluded this was a safe range given data for 180gr and 200gr bullets. It was.

Found the node at 73.0 to 74.0. No signs of pressure @ 74.0.

When I do the 2nd round ladder test, I would like to exceed the max pressure or least go up to 74.5, but would like to see some publicized data of what the max is.

Any help on berger 185gr 300winmag?

If you call or e-mail Berger, they should provide you some data for the 185. However, I would safely use 190 grain data, if that's all I had.

Frankly, I gotten better accuracy and more velocity out of H-1000 in the 300 win mag case, than with H4831. Case capacity (and hence max loads) w/190 grain bullet are listed @ 81.0 Grains H-1000 and 73.0 Grains H-4831, at 3.340" COAL. If your loading longer, you can go higher, just work up with caution.

I will contact Berger on Monday. I dont even have 190 data. Just 200 and 180.

Soon as I shoot up the H4831, I will give the H-1000 a try.

I seated the bullets to 3.440, and I dont believe I compressed the 74.0 grains of H4831. This is why I need the max data before I find the max on my own.

Bosulli,

Well I just gave you max data for 190 grain bullets, for both H-1000 and H4831.

And I hate to disillusion you but, reloading is all about finding MAX on your own, in your rifle. Sometimes you find MAX below the published MAX data, and sometimes you find it above published MAX data. But reload long enough, and try enough loads, and find it you will.

The only absolutes in reloading is that your MAX will be absolutely different. No two rifle are alike, no two chambers, no two barrels, ad nauseam.....
