Hello sh.

Planning my new rifle. Since i have possibility to order 2-3 barrels with it made from the same piece of steel in the same config - so i can build a rifle with low barrel life.

Disclaimer - i know common use of 300wm is heavier bullets (heavier than in 308) flying around 900-950 ms.

I know in 308 palma guys are pushing 155gr bullets up to 3000fps from 30" barrels and do fine at 1000 yards.

So the questions are:
1. How fast is it possible to push 155gr from .300wm? is 1200ms possible?
2. Which barrel lenght will be enough for such speed? 24" will allow to push 155gr on that speed?
3. Which twist should be on the barrel? 1:13 (assumption based on 308palma twists)? or slower?
4. What will be the barrel life? will barrel last for 1500 rounds?

Why i'm asking. I buy 155gr & 167gt scenars for my 18,5" .308
and i want to build a "hobby" flat-shooting rifle in .30cal - to utilize reloading supplies which i constantly use.

I know these speeds will burn the barrel fast. And yes - when i'll order the rifle with spare barrels one of them will be classic 1:10 or 1:11 twist. But since i can try something new for me - why not.

So the links for the articles or examples of 155gr bullets from .300wm will be very helpful.

Thank you in advance.
