I’m looking at a 300wm for an all around gun. The gun will mostly be a range gun with a few hunting trips from time to time. I’m curious for those with heavy 15+ pound guns running a suppressor what is the recoil like? I’ve shot an older 300 Remington with a small barrel and it was rough to say the least.

Not a 300WM, but I’ve had a 300WSM and 7x300WSM in a heavy, suppressed 20 lb rifle.

They are mild, enough so that you could do 100+ rounds in an afternoon if you wanted to toast your barrel quickly.

I shoot 300-WM with a Barrett MRAD, and a MPA-300WMBA ... both suppressed. The recoil is more than my multiple 6.5-CM versions, but still manageable with the suppressor. On a bench, it's hard to put enough "shoulder" behind it to see hits and misses at distance, but shooting prone and lined up well behind the rifle, seeing the post-shot target is easier. I don't hunt, so I can't speak to shooting it in that environment, but I'd think the weight issues would be more about "carrying" it in the woods, and less about "recoil".

I am running a custom Remington 700 in 300 winmag with a SilencerCo Harvester 300. The recoil on the rifle is very comfortable. I would put it in the same category as a 6.5 creedmoor. As long as I load the bipod correctly I can spot my own shot pretty easy. My Remington is around 13.5-14 pounds.
