So basically I have my 5r in a .308 cal on the AICS. I was thinking about moving the 5r to a manners stock and getting a .223 for AICS. I would just need the different magazines right?

No extra work to get the .223 to fit right. Should be a drop and shoot with the .223?

Sorry about the noob question

Daniel,

SRT is correct re: you just needing mags.

Any Remington 700 footprint action, with some limitations on aftermarket/oversized recoil lugs commonly found on many custom rifles, will fit into an AICS SA Chassis without modification. Drop in the barreled action, torque it down, get some .223/5.56 AI mags and you are good to go!

Good luck!
