Hi guys.
I came across a guy that is maybe willing to sell me his 2011 AIAW in 308. ( Special edition he says ).
Its seems to be in a pretty decent condition, i am still new to bolt action & you guys can help me.
It has always been a dream to own an original L115A1 ( AIAW ), hopefully i can be lucky to get it.

I have no idea how much these are worth pr. today, or what i could offer ?
( he has no exact idea how many shot have been fired thhrough it )

I've owned an FDE AIAW folder in 308 over 10 years. I've often been tempted to upgrade. Then asked myself what I'm going to gain? The AIAW with a NightForce NXS 8-32X56 scope with ZS, HST will consistently shoot well under 0.5" 5 shot 100 yard groups using 168FGMM. Know that's my limit and I won't be able to do any better with a higher priced rig. I dearly love my AIAW. Can't help with the price since I've never been tempted to sell mine. But I'm sure some other folks will respond with that. But I would get a bore scope and examine the bore to access the condition of the bore. Good luck.

Barrel looks cool... I was gonna say it looks like a GAP barrel but those are certainly not GAP markings on it. Then I was gonna say cool... someone fluted an AI barrel, but it does not appear to the the correct contour for AI, but those markings look like the AI markings. Pretty Cool.

Fluted AI barrels were indeed an option back then. The Border barrel/Lothar Walther barrel days...

AI porn in the internets infancy:

I bought mine from Stacey Blankenship back in 2008 and your options were:
Color: Black, Green, FDE (which was "NEW")
Barrel length: 20, 24, 26"
Fluted or not
Muzzle threaded or not
1.5 or 2.0 stock (quick adjust or not if 2.0)
Dovetail or Picatinny

Beautiful gun indeed, but nothing overly "special" thank being a kick-ass AW

Did the seller say what's so special about this one? The fluted barrel is somewhat desirable as it's not that standard on most of the rifles. I have seen some of rifles that were destined for different militaries but never got delivered so they went up for sale. I think Euro Optic had like 10 kits that was suppose to go to a South American country that didn't go and was sold off. My AW is 1 of 3 AWs that the FBI used in their T&E for their sniper rifle selection program back in 03-04 and it's marked FBI on the side of my rifle.

I bought an AW second hand a little less than 2 years ago. Pm me if you want to talk price you are looking at instead of an open forum

I own the rifle in the picture and it is indeed 100% original, manufactured in 2011. It's not a "special edition" but I have said it was an unusual combination with this barrel - not often on sale. This is not a military contract rifle but a civilian sale - imported from sportingservices uk to customer in Norway. The factory option on short barreled 20" AW rifles at that time was either straight bull barrel with brake or fluted bull barrel without threading.
I'm not sure I want to sell it...

Picture of an AI AW I recently sold with the short straight bull barrel. It was produced in 2006. Also had the fully suppressed barrel for this one.

The covert barrel is the dream barrel I want. I missed out on buying Larry Vickers AW Covert. Poors problems at the time

Picture with suppressor of - the silencer barrel is a 1-9" and 40cm - original AI. Very fun to shoot and surprisingly accurate. Regret I sold it but, well I probably bought something I wanted more.

An old school AIAW would be really cool to have in the stable. Such an iconic rifle.

Man I would never sell that FDE folder. I think you eventually be sorry if you did. Great looking rifle.

Honestly if you have a chance to buy an AW I'd go for it. Phenomenal rifles and they're not as plentiful these days. Even though I have an AX and other more modern rifles the AW holds a special place.
